Dessert Name: Apple pie
Step 1: Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
Step 2: Prepare the crust: In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 teaspoon of salt. Cut in 1/2 cup of cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Slowly add 3-5 tablespoons of ice water, stirring with a fork until the dough forms a ball. Place the dough on a lightly floured surface, and roll out into two circles. Place one circle of dough in a 9-inch pie plate, and set aside.
Step 3: Prepare the filling: Peel, core and thinly slice 6 medium apples. In a large bowl, combine the apples with 1/2 cup of white sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and 1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour. Pour the mixture into the prepared pie plate. Dot the top of the filling with 1 tablespoon of butter. Place the second crust over the top, and crimp the edges together. Cut slits in the top of the crust for steam to escape.
Step 4: Bake the pie for 40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly. Cool before serving.
